Things I Make When Nobody's Watching

Andrew McGrath is a builder by disposition. The same instinct that drives GTM work shows up after hours as game prototypes, paintings, and half-finished robots.

The Studio

Game Development

Building game prototypes in Unity. Interested in the intersection of systems design and player experience. The same feedback loops that drive product-market fit show up in game mechanics. Currently working on a demo build.

Oil & Acrylic Painting

Traditional painting as a counterweight to screen-based work. Working in oil and acrylic: landscapes, abstracts, and studies from the Sonoma County coast.

3D Modeling

Exploring 3D modeling as a bridge between physical and digital making. Interested in hard-surface modeling and environment design.

Robotics

Early-stage exploration in robotics, learning the fundamentals of hardware, sensors, and control systems. The builder’s instinct applied to physical machines.

Personal

Andrew McGrath is based in the San Francisco Bay Area, with deep ties to Sonoma, California. The coastal light and quiet of Sonoma County show up in his painting practice as much as the city’s density shows up in his work life.

Outside of screens, he enjoys laser engraving as a maker hobby: the precision craft side of the same builder instinct. He has a quiet appreciation for vintage Porsches, especially the mechanical simplicity and design longevity of air-cooled cars: machines that were built to last, and to be understood.

He stays active in San Francisco tech circles, attending events and remaining connected to the broader Bay Area startup ecosystem. The through-line is range with taste: someone who builds systems for a living, and still makes things with his hands.
